Duisburg lies where the Ruhr and the Rhine meet - and with duisport it holds the largest inland port in the world. This tour follows the water: from the playful Inner Harbor with its marina via the lake landscape of the Six Lakes to the broad Rhine promenade. To finish, the traditional Rhine ferry to Homberg. A day among boats, currents and lake views.
Best time to visit: May to September - in sunshine the water is at its best

Day 1
A day by the water
We follow the water through Duisburg: the marina at the Inner Harbor, the lakes in Wedau, the Rhine Park and a ferry ride across the Rhine.
- 9:30 - 11:00
Marina and Inner Harbor
Start at the marina in the Inner Harbor, where yachts and sports boats are moored. A loop around the harbor basin shows the successful transformation from grain port to waterfront quarter.
- 11:30 - 13:00
The Six Lakes and the Masurensee
On to the Six Lakes in Wedau. A loop around the Masurensee, past sailing boats and beach sections - Duisburg's blue lung.
- 13:00 - 14:15
Lunch by the lake
Around the Six Lakes there is catering with a water view - from a beer garden to a lakeside restaurant.
- 14:45 - 16:15
Rhine Park and Rhine promenade
At Rhine Park Hochfeld you meet the great river. The Rhine promenade invites a walk, freighters pass by, and broad meadows offer space for a break.
- 16:45 - 18:00
Rhine ferry to Homberg
The traditional Rhine ferry connects the two banks. A short crossing with a view of the river, the harbor and the city's silhouette - pure Rhine romance.
- 19:00 - 21:00
Evening at the Inner Harbor
Back to the water at the Inner Harbor - restaurants with a harbor view and a relaxed wind-down by the basin.
