Salvator Church & Old Market

The Salvator Church is Duisburg's main Protestant church and the most important medieval building in the city. The late-Gothic hall church from the 14th and 15th centuries rises on the highest point of the old town directly beside the town hall. The church is famous as the final resting place of the great cartographer and globe-maker Gerhard Mercator, who worked in Duisburg for many years. Together with the nearby Old Market, it forms the historic heart of the city.
