Duisburg Theatre on König-Heinrich-Platz opened in 1912 and remains one of the most important stages on the Lower Rhine. Together with Düsseldorf it runs the renowned Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Ballett am Rhein. The programme features opera, ballet, concerts and guest performances of a high standard. The neoclassical building is centrally located in the city core and, together with König-Heinrich-Platz, forms a cultural focal point of the city.
