German Museum of Inland Navigation
The German Museum of Inland Navigation in Ruhrort tells the history of shipping on the Rhine, the Ruhr and the canals. It is housed in a magnificent Art Nouveau public baths from 1910, whose restored swimming hall alone is worth a visit. Ship models, original boats, a walk-through tugboat and interactive stations convey the life of the boatmen and the importance of inland navigation for the Ruhr region. Two historic ships in the nearby harbor also belong to the museum.
