Rheinpreußen Spoil Tip & Geleucht

The Rheinpreußen spoil tip in the north of Duisburg carries one of the most impressive landmark artworks in the region: the "Geleucht". The roughly 30-meter-high, walkable replica of a miner's lamp by Otto Piene recalls the mining history and glows red far across the night. From the viewing platform beneath the "flame", a wide panorama opens over the northern Ruhr region, the Rhine and the industrial landscape. Paths lead over the greened spoil tip - a destination for hikers and photographers.
