Rheinhausen & Krupp History

Rheinhausen on the left bank of the Rhine was for over a century the home of the Krupp steelworks and a symbol of heavy industry. Its closure in 1993 and the determined workers' protest of 1987, which made headlines across Germany, wrote industrial history. Today, memorials and the structural change on the Logport site recall this era. With Gründerzeit quarters, Rhine dikes and views of the river, Rheinhausen combines industrial heritage, workers' history and Rhenish lifestyle.
